Unity, and by extension, community, are often flippantly discussed concepts which I believe underground electronic dance music scene participants could be and should be working harder at maintaining. Difficult times call for difficult (personal) decisions. The decision to embrace one another and their contributions, their artform, is critical right now. It’s the season to bridge gaps and do the sometimes hard work of mending a small piece of fabric that represents a relationship.. a friendship. When successful, the results can be the ultimate reward: human connection.
I misplaced a phone and will be without it for a while, feeling liberated. Can’t remember the last time I misplaced it and couldn’t retrieve it right away. I performed all my morning rituals unencumbered and feeling more in the present. There was the issue of the audio part of my system that needed reorganization and I made quick work of it. It is beautiful outside. I wanted to hear a 12″ by Cornucopia, which is Guy J’s alias, using the old sub I have. It’s on his new label, Early Morning, which is actually the title of the B-side of the 12″. But “Release Me” felt right, felt like an early morning pot of brown rice or corn tea…
I encourage you to play the song. It’s a gently pumping treat from the legendary Guy J, easing the listener into the day or into the night (club).
